Music and Celebritys (language warning)

Today I was driving my little brother, 13 years old, around town.  Usually I won't let him play his i-pod because the music he has on it is just plain nasty but today I was feeling nice...now I feel like I just watched porn.

All of his music talks about 'pussy', 'bootie on my dick', 'bitch opened her gap', etc. Don't get me wrong, when I am feeling hot and am getting ready to go out, music like that is fun to listen to...but even then, I won't go that vulgar.  I just don't understand why artists and celebrity's, the people with some of the biggest influence over society, choose to sing about sex and its vulgarity.

If I had that much influence over society and I knew that teenagers looked up to me, or even listened to me on a daily basis, I sure wouldn't be talking about the one thing that everyone is going to do regardless.  Why is it necessary to write every single song about sex?  Sure, its great...but its not so great that I need to sing about every detail of it for the world to hear.

Is there really nothing more inspiring in this life to pop culture artists than 'pussy and dick'?

With all of their influence over society (what clothes are popular, what pass times are popular, what lingo is popular, etc) I would think that there would be more artists like Tracy Chapman who pretty much only writes about how worried we should be about our world and how we should be taking care of the poor instead of continuously trying to rise above each other.  I mean I would even be happy with more of Selena Gomez talking about how girls should love who they are and one direction making girls  believe they are beautiful rather...just as long as music and pop culture is inspiring something more than sex.

Anyway..that was my rant.  I like mainstream music as much as anyone else but if you feel like listening to a few of my favorite songs that aim to motivate a better world, they are below.
Do you have any favorite songs like this?

Save Nevada's Education

Are you a well educated person who lives a successful life?  Do you value that education that has gotten you where you are today?  I am willing to bet that you do.  Unfortunately, our state is putting our youth in danger by not allowing them the same opportunities that you had.  Somehow, an education has been something that we can compromise and I am not okay with it.  I believe that an education is the most important thing a person can have and it is one of the few things that can never be taken away from you.  If you agree, please, read on.

Governor Sandoval, along with the rest of the Nevada Legislature, is proposing extremely dangerous cuts in all public education.  This mean kindergarten through college.  Before I get into what those cuts may look like, there are a few side notes that I feel would be important for you to know.
~ Nevada has the highest school dropout rates of any U.S. state
~Nevada has one of the lowest teacher pays (already) in the U.S.
~Nevada is in the top 10 for the worst educated states of America.
~Nevada has the most amount of people without college degrees.
~Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the U.S. and that is not predicted to change for another 5 or 6 years.
That said, here are some of the budget cuts that are currently being proposed in our already suffering state.

UNR Budget Cuts:
~ all specialty programs in education, including early childhood development, speech/language therapy, administrative/counseling programs, and special education, will be eliminated. This will leave us with only two possible education degrees- general elementary ed and general secondary ed.
~the College of Education itself will disappear and will merely become a school under the College of Liberal Arts.  This means that teachers who graduate from UNR will graduate with the most mundane teaching degree  possible.  That sure isn't going to be a benefit for our future children.

Now before I continue on to discuss the proposed cuts for public education K-12 I feel that I should point out that Nevada 's legislature says that they believe that all NV citizens should be 'career and college ready.'  So, while reading over this information, I want you to think about how much that statement contradicts the changes that our governor wants to implement.  Also, I want you to keep in mind that Gov. Sandovals children all attend private school, which obviously, would not be affected by these changes.  Lastly, I want you to keep in mind that if these changes do take place, our education system will be at a lower standard than those is Puerto Rico and Guam.

Public School Proposed Cuts:
~Public schools will go from a 5 day school weeks to a 4 day school week with longer school days..  Good luck finding Friday daycare and forcing your children to focus for an extra 2 hours/ day.
~There will be massive school closures which will result in eliminating jobs and making class sizes even larger at the schools that remain open.
~Teachers will be facing another 5% pay cut.
~Teachers who have earned themselves a degree that is higher than a bachelors will no longer get paid more for their degree.  This applies to future and present teachers.  Therefore, any teacher with a masters or doctorates degree will be facing a 10-15% pay cut.

These are real issues that will have an enormous impact on all of our futures and it is not something to be taken lightly.  Please don't allow yourself to sit back and watch.  The government of Nevada only consists of a handful of people and we have them outnumbered by hundreds of thousands, but we all have to participate in saving our education system.  Governor Sandoval ran on a campaign that said he would make these cuts, and somehow, we let him into office and we now need to correct our mistakes and save education.  To participate, send a letter, or a few, to your representative, to Gov. Sandoval, even to our President. You can do this from  this website and  you can add your name the the Save the COE list server to receive more information of how you can make an impact.  Lastly, PASS THIS ON to everyone you know, to everyone with a student...if everyone participates, these cuts don't stand a chance.  Please, take a stand and save Education.

TSA Scanners

So I'm about to travel soon and after all this hustle and bustle about the new TSA scanners, I thought I'd chime in.  I've been through one before they were mandatory and I really didn't think much of it but once I got to thinking I realized:

1: This is an X-ray.  It uses radiation to see through your clothing.  If you don't already know, ladies, radiation (Xrays) kill your eggs-thats why you have to wear something over your stomach when you get you get an Xray.  Now I am aware that they only shoot you with a tiny minuscule amount, but still...what is that doing to your future babies and even your own DNA.  They always say that this stuff is so safe a tested but thats not always the case.  For example...the H1N1 vaccination is now linked to numerous miscarriages....oops. http://www.naturalnews.com/030657_vaccines_miscarriages.html  I don't really want to put my future at risk for a machine that doesn't even work half the time.

2: It doesn't even work half of the time!  According to many articles found on the web and in various magazines, these new body scanners can't tell the difference between plastic explosives and body flesh.  Yes is can spot a gun or a knife or maybe an explosive every once in a while...but so could the old way.  And the old way didn't involve my naked body being put on display for the low life, no college degree, sixty year old creep who needed a job (note: I am aware that this is not true for a majority of TSA employees, its an anger rant).

3: I have rights.  Did America forget this?  I have the right to keep my body a secret.  Unless I have already committed a crime or am under some serious suspicion.  Any body remember the all famous law of Innocent Until Proven Guilty.  OR the fact that a Law Enforcement Official (not TSA security) should have some type of a warrant before invading a person in such a way? Also, it has been questioned on whether or not these images are kept private.  Many sources say that they believe the images are saved and are in Government files.  I don't know about you, but I don;t really want my naked body in the hands of someone like George Bush. Oh but let me not forget...you can say no to this degrading process but the consequences include being tagged a Domestic Terrorist and being physically and publicly intruded.
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” – Benjamin Franklin

4: No thank you TSA, I don't really want my boobs groped today.  Too bad, you don't have a choice.  If you do so choose to not put your body in potential radiation danger or on display then guess what...you get to be felt up in public.  The wand and simple feeling is gone.  Here is a recent quote found on aoltravel.com  by a woman who politely asked for an alternative to going through the scanner:
"They run their hands inside your leg and under your bra strap and patted the front of my breasts," she says. "If someone had done that to me at a nightclub I'd call the cops."
Quote from a Boston NBC news channel regarding the story of a man who did not want his 'junk touched':
"Also we're going to be doing a groin check. That means I’m gonna place my hand on your hip, other hand on your inner-thigh, slowly go up and slide down. I'm going to do that two times in the front, two times in the back." said a TSA officer to Tyner.
If you are interested in reading more stories from real travelers who opted out of the TSA scanner here are a few that really just get my blood boiling:

5: We never needed this Shit.  There was nothing wrong with the airport security before this.  As stated above, the new scanner can't do anymore than the metal detector could.  And for the protection of America, a suspected criminal..whether by race or attitude, could be wanded and pat down.  Although this brought up an argument of racism it was still less invasive then both of the new procedures taking place.  I do not want to be the person who claims that TSA agents are 'randomly' selecting good looking women or other individuals because that would be ignorant of me, however based on the stories I have read online..women seem to be selected a whole lot.  Maybe men just don't make a fuss of it..who knows.

Bottom Line:  This Scanner is invasive as well as its alternative.  No on really knows if its safe to be used on a fertile body, or any body for that matter and it is against our constitutional rights.  We are no safer with this stupid thing when we were before.  In fact I would say we are in even more danger.  Danger of becoming a police state where our rights are slowly being stripped away in the name of 'safety' from 'terrorists.' You know what America...maybe I would be okay with that if 300,000 Americans hadn't been murdered in 9/11 by our own governemt and the whole thing really was a terrorist attack.  And maybe I would be okay with it if the damn thing actually worked.  Maybe even if the government hadn't been bribed to say these things were necessary by the company who made them (ill give the link to that story to anyone who requests it).  But in believing that all of the above are factual statements....I hope that the citizens of our country attempt to do something about this.

With this all said, I don't know what I am going to do come next week when I may be 'randomly selected' to be photographed, saved, and possibly molested.   As of now I think that seeing my best friend and  baby sisters is more important than a few minutes (or a forever stored photograph) of my dignity.  But I just don't know. I might just have to buy those new 'fig leaf undies' that are supposed to cover your private parts from the scanner.  http://matadornetwork.com/goods/photo-essay-tsa-scanner-proof-clothing-and-underwear/   Leave your comments below (unless you want to argue logistics upon our government because my beliefs are mine and that why its my blog)
