If you haven't yet heard of the 'No Poo Revolution,' you should take a look at this!!!
No Poo is a system of hair care that uses no shampoo. This system, while sounding shocking at first, has the ability to transform your hair from drab to fab!
Today is my one month anniversary of using absolutely no shampoo! I get in the shower, massage my scalp, get out, and then continue with my normal hair care rituals (without the use of gel, hairspray, etc.).
This system is beneficial for a few different reasons. First of all I should point out that shampoo contains unhealthy and unnatural chemicals (listed in the first link below). Also, when you wash your hair everyday, you are stripping away it's natural oils causing it to have to over produce and compensate for what you washed away. When you stop washing your hair, your hair will restore itself to its natural balance allowing your hair to become more healthy.
I came across the idea of 'No Poo'...well a month ago. At this point in time, I hated my hair. It was dry, frizzy, and just plain unhealthy. So unhealthy in fact, that I was loosing about 100-200 strands daily (the average hair loss is about 60 stands/day). With all of this going on atop my scalp, I figured I had nothing to loose...so out went my shampoo bottles.
Today, my hair is not falling out, it is thick, shiny, and more healthy than it has ever been. I don't think I will ever pick up a shampoo bottle again. If you are thinking about going 'No Poo,' there are some websites listed below that can give you some more information and shampoo free ways to clean your hair if you choose to do so (I have not yet used any of these).

I am seriously considering going No Poo with all the horrible chemicals you see on the labels. I don't want to be bald when I'm 45. But does it ever feel gross though, washing it with just water?
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't for me. If I ever do have a greasy day I just put some baby powder on the roots and it soaks it right up. One of my little sisters tried it and she said the only downside for her was her hair felt dry for a few months b/c it was so used to conditioner.
