Christmas Meme

Christmas for me, starts immediately after Thanksgiving; and luckily some other bloggers feel the same way so I could steal this Christmas meme from them. :) I got this one from The Curious Pug.  Feel free to steal it and pass it on!


1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?

Hot Coco made with eggnog instead of milk.  But if it really came down to it, eggnog because it is typically seasonal.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Growing up, Santa cornered off sections of the living room and made cool displays of our gifts (unwrapped) for each sibling in our respective corners.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
I suppose it goes on the look you are going for.  White and blue lights mean silent, pretty, peace, etc. while colored lights mean fun.  I personally like the white and blue.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
I have never done so.  

5. When do you put your decorations up?
The weekend of Thanksgiving.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
Stuffing and pie! (separately of course)

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?
Christmas Eve in general.  We would go to Grandma's for dinner, drive around and look at lights, go home and open one present each, set out cookies and carrots (for the reindeer), and then my siblings and I would all sleep in one room and stay up as late as we could in hopes of hearing Santa.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
Probably around 4th or 5th grade.  Later than most but I loved the magic in it, I didn't want to give it up.  My mom always, and still does, told me that Santa is a spirit, not a person, and therefore, he is real in the spirit of Christmas.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

My siblings and I each open one gift from each other.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?

My family Christmas tree is just  collection of ornaments we have received as gifts, baby's first christmas, craft ornaments that we made in school, and ornaments from travel. It really doesn't have a theme, it just describes our family.

11. Snow! Love it or dread it?
Love it in the mountains, prefer it mid Dec- mid Jan down in the city, but thats it.

12. Can you ice skate?
I can manage my way around the rink- but I'm sure I look like a goon.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

I don't have one that really sticks out in my mind.  :(

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
The feeling of home.  Family, tradition, love, happiness, gatherings..No family celebrates Christmas like your family. Also, the break from school is lovely.  

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
I am stealing this answer from the answerer before me because I never would have thought of it but...Truffles!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Christmas Eve (described above).  Or decorating and delivering cookies with my family.

17. What tops your tree?
In my little apartment- a sparkly gold star from the dollar tree. In my family home, an angel.

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?

I am always excited for people to open what I got for them because I tend to put a lot of thought into it buttttt lets be honest, receiving is awesome too.

19. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? 
Yuck! Not a peppermint fan.

20. Favorite Christmas show?
If by show we mean movie...umm...I have so many- Elf, Grinch, Nick and Noelle, all of them.  We only bring out the Christmas movies from Thanksgiving to New Years so each one of them is a treat.

21. Saddest Christmas Song?
Christmas Shoes.  If you haven't heard it (or read the book), be prepared to tear up- but it's amazing.

I love songs that are fun for me to sing to sooo Silent Night and The Little Drummer Boy
